Lawyer - Senior (MM2)
Enfield Council
Role
Who You Are
As a Senior Lawyer in the Civil/Commercial Litigation team, you are a qualified solicitor, barrister, or CILEX with at least five years of post-qualification experience. You excel in navigating complex and politically sensitive legal matters and possess in-depth knowledge of civil or commercial litigation, housing, employment, licensing, judicial review, and advocacy. You are a collaborative communicator, capable of providing informal coaching, supervision, and support to your team. You embody responsibility, openness, respectfulness, and a commitment to continuous improvement and customer focus.
What the Job Involves
As a middle manager within the Council, you will ensure corporate and departmental practices are understood and adhered to. You will handle a caseload of complex legal issues with minimal supervision, contribute to the management and strategy of the Legal Services Team, provide comprehensive legal services to colleagues, and ensure good governance is in place for decision-making. You will advise members in both public and private settings, including committees and sub-committees, and contribute to the training of colleagues on relevant legal developments. The role may involve occasional attendance at evening meetings and requires effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
