Who You Are

You are a dedicated social worker with experience working with children, young people, and young adults, ideally in the context of learning disabilities and transitions in all age disability. You should be registered with Social Work England and be passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young adults with disabilities. You possess good interpersonal skills, allowing you to relate to a wide range of individuals, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds.

What the Job Involves

This role involves working within the All Age Disability (0-25) Service, collaborating with children, young people, young adults, and their families to address their social, emotional, and environmental needs. You will be responsible for safeguarding and promoting their welfare through high-quality service delivery, assessing risks and needs, and coordinating resources to achieve the best outcomes. Tasks include completing statutory assessments, maintaining accurate records, participating in supervision, and engaging in professional development activities. Flexibility in working hours is sometimes required, including work outside core office hours.

Skills

  • Experience with statutory social care settings
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding practices
  • Specialist knowledge in social work theories and practices
  • Knowledge of current legislation for children and young adults
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities
  • Good IT skills and experience with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent liaison and negotiation skills
