Who You Are

You are a dedicated professional with a social work qualification and a minimum of five years post-qualification experience. You possess experience in providing social work supervision and support, along with a strong ability to chair complex meetings. You demonstrate confidence in working constructively with senior managers and have a thorough understanding of the legal framework for looked after children and care leavers. Your ability to monitor performance and demonstrate independence while challenging corporate parent functions is crucial. Communicating effectively with children and advocating for their needs is a key strength. Your knowledge of representation and complaints processes, coupled with an ability to define and enhance practice standards, sets you apart. Problem-solving and time management skills under pressure are essential attributes. You are known for your excellent verbal and written communication skills.

What the Job Involves

The Independent Chair Service (ICS) provides independent reviewing and coordination of care plans for various children's services within the Strategic Safeguarding and Independent Review Group in Nottinghamshire County Council. This role involves undertaking reviews using a strength-based approach and liaising with the broader service group responsible for key safeguarding responsibilities. You will work within a supportive team, receiving regular supervision to deliver high-quality outcomes for looked after children. As part of your duties, you will continually assess and ensure that the Local Authority's performance as a corporate parent meets necessary standards. You will engage effectively to ensure that the voice of the child is actively promoted throughout all processes.
