What the Job Involves
The Family Support Worker plays a crucial role in supporting children, young people, and families under a Child in Need Plan, as well as those on the edge of Local Authority Care. You will carry out direct work with children, including pre-schoolers, and their parents/carers. The role involves promoting parental responsibility, enhancing understanding of child development, providing parenting support, and working to prevent family breakdown. You will collaborate with other agencies and be part of the 'team around the family,' often working outside of standard hours to meet family needs. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and preparing professional reports.
